2020 was the third year a group from Musashi University came back to Akahiao Nature Institute. Brian Masshardt and 7 of his students came as part of their GLAD Program (Global Leadership and Awareness Development) with this yearʻs theme being innovation, sustainability and social responsibility.

Coming from Tokyo, they especially enjoyed the outdoor activities we offered at ʻAkahiao. In keeping with the theme, we took the group to a hydrogen energy lab, NELHA with a picnic lunch of kampachi poke on the beach, organized a workshop to understand the situation surrounding Mauna Kea, worked in the garden of course and had a wonderful make your own pizza party!

We will continue to host them every year and our collaboration with Musashi University grows as our relationship deepens with Brian.
