Akahiao Preschool, located at Huehue Ranch, is seeking a
PRESCHOOL LEAD TEACHER
JOB SUMMARY:
We are searching for a caring, fun, responsible caregiver to keiki at our predominantly outdoor preschool. We are located at a picturesque ranch that encompasses an organic garden, tall tree forest and open grassland that can all be used as learning spaces. The Lead Teacher will plan and facilitate activities that ensure experiential projects, creativity, and active participation. The teacher is also responsible for providing a safe and developmentally appropriate preschool program for young children that complies with all relevant legislation, policies and procedures. Our main curriculum focus will be on gratitude to the natural world, which will include outdoor play, giving back practice and simply thanking natural elements.

Willingness and ability to learn and implement a nature-based curriculum

Learn the Thanksgiving Address and be able to lead the day with it

Ability to recognize the strengths and areas for growth for each child and tailor instruction to meet their needs and help them develop a positive self-concept

Ability to create an atmosphere of positive and appropriate discipline

Demonstrated ability to develop new and imaginative programs within the field of early childhood education

Knowledge of children's physical, emotional, and developmental patterns

Knowledge of general learning theories and curriculum development alternatives
Work hours:
Tuesday - Thursday 730AM - 1600 (with Keiki 800 - 1500)
Fridays 900 - 1500
Attend Open House before start of school - Date TBA
Start date: July 14
Training July 14- 16
Preparation week Aug 1 - 4
Start school Aug 8
Duties Include:

Weekly update email to parents

Organize Parent meetings as needed

Plans Family Friday activities

Create and implement curriculum

Educational and Experience Requirements
-
A Bachelor's Degree in child development or early childhood education with emphasis on preschool from an accredited college or university
-
Or a Bachelor's Degree in elementary education from an accredited college or university including at least 12 course credits in ECE
-
Experience as a preschool teacher or in early childhood development for at least 2 years
-
Training in Reggio Emilia, Montessori or Steiner models preferred (in order or preference)
Salary: up to $4000/mo, commensurate with experience
